Patient Education
The internet can be a great resource; from support groups to recipes, there is wealth of information out there. Here are a few of our favorite sites to help get you started with your research. Please be aware, we do not endorse or get paid to list these sites or the information you find on them. They are only listed here as a courtesy to our patients and their families. We want you to be knowledgeable about your disease and the resources available to you. Click on the names below and it will link you to that website.
As always, please consult your physician if you have any questions.
Dialysis Diet
Many patients find adjusting to a dialysis diet frustrating and confusing. If you help us to keep your potassium and phosphorus levels in check, you'll most likely start feeling better. Talk with us, talk to the dietitian, together we can make this an easier adjustment. Nothing replaces speaking to your doctor, but these can be used as quick references at home on potassium and phosphorus. Just remember you want to stay in the LOW column as much as possible, HIGHER column sometimes, and avoid the HIGHEST column all together! We do have copies of these in the office; just ask for one next time you're in.
